From hardship to hope: Young musician dreams of a second chance

KAMPALA — For Kayemba Latifuh, life has been a journey of hardship, resilience and hope, but his circumstances have not stopped him from pursuing his dream of becoming a musician.

Known by his stage name Fyntain, the young artist grew up in Kiryandongo District under the care of his uncle, a South Sudanese refugee, in the absence of his parents.

With limited financial support, Latifuh struggled to meet his school fees and was eventually forced to stop his education after completing Senior Four.

Despite the challenges, he developed a passion for music and now hopes to make a name for himself in Uganda's entertainment industry.

Latifuh has since relocated to Kampala, where he stays with a friend in Makindye Division as he works to pursue his music career.

“I have always loved music and I believe I have the talent to become a musician. I only need an opportunity to show what I can do,” he says.

Latifuh says his dream is not limited to music. He hopes to return to school if he gets financial support, while continuing to develop his musical talent.

“If I get an opportunity, I can continue with my studies and do music at the same time. I don't want to give up on education,” he says.

For the young musician, Kampala represents a fresh start and an opportunity to turn his talent into a career.

He is now appealing to well-wishers, music producers and other stakeholders to give him a chance to develop his talent and pursue the education he was forced to abandon.

“I am still young and I believe I can achieve something if someone gives me a chance,” Latifuh says.
