Born December 9th, 1969, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi is a Ugandan Physician, Public Health Specialist, demographer and politician having served in the Parliament of Uganda representing Kinkiizi East Constituency in Kanungu District.
Chris Baryomunsi has served as a minister in the cabinet of Museveni in various positions including Minister for Housing, Minister of Health for General Duties and is currently appointed as Cabinet Minister for ICT (Information, Communications Technology and National Guidance as of June 2021.

Personal Life
Chris Baryomunsi was born in Murama, Nyakishenyi, Rukungiri District, South Western Uganda, to the late Aloysius Mpungirehe and the late Rosaria Kamayangi in 1969 before migrating to Kanungu district in 1971.
Baryomunsi is married to Fosca Twebaze the couple is blessed with two children.

Education Background of Chris Baryomunsi
He attended Kayungwe Primary School before going to St Paul’s Seminary Kabale for his O and A Level. Baryomunsi was admitted to Makerere University where he pursed human medicine and graduated in 1995 in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.
The new Minister of ICT after graduating in Medicine he pursed a post graduate diploma in Demography and in 1998 he graduated with Masters of Arts in Demography.
Baryomunsi went to acquire a post graduate degree in HIV/AIDS management from University of Boston and later PhD in Public Health majoring in Maternal Health from Atlantic International University, USA.
Career
Medical Career
Chris Baryomunsi started working shortly after his graduation as a Medical officer at Mulago Hospital. He would later work as a reproductive health adviser for the Germany organization Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit between 1999 to 2002.
Baryomunsi also worked as a lecturer at Makerere University between 2000 to 2006. He worked also as a resproductive health adviser for UNFPA between 2002 to 2006.

Political Career of Chris Baryomunsi
Baryomunsi’s political journey began way back in high school when he was elected as a minister of education at St Paul’s Seminary Kabale. He was later elected the Finance secretary Federation of African Medical Students’ association at Makerere University.
In 2006, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi contested for Kinkiizi East Constituency Member of Parliament post in Kanungu District where he came as the NRM Party candidate. He was re-elected for the same post in 2011, 2016 and 2021.

While in Parliament, Baryomunsi has served on various committees including the Health and HIV/AIDS Committees to date, he was elected president of the African Parliamentarians Forum on Population and Development. He served as a Parliamentary Commissioner for NRM in the Parliament of Uganda from June 2011 to April 2014.
In 2015, he was appointed as State Minister of Health for General Duties. In 2016, June 6th, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi was appointed as State Minister for Housing a position he held till 2021.
On June 7th, 2021, Chris Baryomunsi was appointed the Cabinet Minister for Information, Communications Technology and National Guidance in an 80 men cabinet named by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the president of Uganda.
