Born on January 7, 1995, Canary Mugume is a Ugandan Investigative Journalist and Show Host who works as Journalist on NBS Television and The Next Radio. He is also CEO, Fashion Blogger, and Creative Director at Fashion Republique, a Leo Africa Young Emerging Leaders Program Fellow, a husband and a Christian.
Early Life
Canary Mugume was born in Mbarara District on January, 7 1995. He is the third born in a family four children.
Mugume lost his father at a young age and was raised by a single mother who looked after his needs and education.
He grew up in Mbarara and spent most of his early age in the largest city of Western Uganda.

Whereas Canary Mugume studied Information Technology and Computer Engineering, he is a practicing Journalist. He says that Journalism was done out of passion.
Mugume’s journalism career started at a young age when he was in Primary Five. He was given a platform Radio West a radio station in Mbarara that would later become part of the Vision Group. He was reading news every Sunday appealing to the pre-puberty audience. He read news on Radio West from P5 –S1.
Mugume Canary’s senior career started when he joined Pastor Kayanja’s Channel 44 in 2014.
While at Channel 44, he was tapped by Nxt Media Services Television, NBS TV where he started as a news reporter becoming a news anchor.
Canary Mugume hosts a Saturday political radio show – The Big Talk on Nxt Radio which also features on NBS Television, a political show that features prominent politicians and civil servants in the country.
Throughout his journalism journey, Canary Mugume has interviewed various prominent people including his interview with the President of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni which was done in May 2020.
He is also column writer who writes a weekly column titled ‘My Parting Shot’ with Nile Post an online newspaper of The NXT Media Services.

The two met in 2013 when Canary Mugume was working with Buzz Events Company. The two have been dating since then for the past 7 years.
In April 2021, Canary proposed Sasha Brighton.
In September 2021, two said marital vows at Rubaga Miracle Centre in a wedding ceremony ordained by Pastor Robert Kayanja. The reception of the colorful wedding ceremony was at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
