Victor Kiplangat has emerged a winner in the 42 Kilometre distance marathon that happened yesterday on November 7, 2021 at the 43rd Istanbul Marathon in Istanbul Turkey.
Kiplangat battled with Kenyan athlete Kipkemboi and Uganda’s Solomon Mutai in the last mile of the race to become the winner.
He won the race at 2:10:18 closely followed by Kipkemboi who reached at the finishing line at 2:10:23 while Mutai came third at 2:10:25.
Kiplangat was the 2017 World Champion in Men’s race gold medalist after he emerged a winner in the 13KM Marathon in Premana, Italy.
Mutai who was not part of Uganda’s Olympics team has earned himself a qualification in next year’s World Athletics Championships slated for Oregon in the US since he hit the cut off qualifying standard of 2:10:30.
The three winners have been given prize money of $35000 (UGX 124M), 20000 (UGX 71M) and 10,000 (UGX 35.5M) for the winner runners up and the second runners-up respectively
