English Premier League entity and London based club Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Antonio Conte as their new Head coach merely a day after sacking Portuguese tactician Nuno Santo Espirito.
The club via he website announced on Tuesday 2nd November,2021 with a post that read…..
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Antonio Conte as our Head Coach on a contract until the summer of 2023, with an option to extend.”
Conte comes in with vast experience having coached Chelsea and guided them to Premier League and FA Cup Championships in 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 respectively.
The Italian tactician also guided Juventus to three Serie A championships in succession 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 before helping his nation to quarter finals of Euro 2016.
He’s now currently tasked with helping the ‘Lilly Whites’ get back on track in the Premier League having dropped to 9th position over the weekend after a humiliating 3:0 home loss to Manchester United.
It should be remembered that two years ago with Mauricio Pochetino at the club’s helm, they managed to make a champions league final where they lost 2:0 to Liverpool but two years later are currently nowhere to be seen in European Competitions.
The club brought in Jose Mourinho to better the performance but the Portuguese didn’t succeed and was replaced by fellow Portuguese Nuno Santo Espirito who only lasted for four months making Conte the third Spurs coach in less than two years since Pochetino was sacked on 19th November,2019.
