The Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development has suspended license renewals of 4 labour export companies and terminated the renewal of licenses for three more companies over breach of terms and conditions.
Companies suspended have been taking Ugandans for greener pastures abroad most especially in the Middle East Countries of Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Lebanon, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.
The suspended companies include Al-Saud Agency Limited located on Salama Road Kibuye, Middle East Consultants Limited located on Tank Hill Road Muyenga, The Eaglea Supervision Limited and Forbes Enterprises Limited located in Kiwatule, Kampala.
Top North Recruitment Services (U) Limited had the renewal of the license terminated. Fly International Jobs (u) Ltd Namuwngo Kampala and Sahara Recruitment Agency Limited located in Rubaga are also the other two companies who licenses were revoked.
Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Developments licenses and regulates all labour and recruitment companies in Uganda. These companies include those that recruit internal workers and those that export labour to other countries, this was done to improve the efficiency of work flow.
According to the information published on the Ministry of GLSD, the ministry is currently in the process of reviewing licenses of companies that export labour suspending licenses of companies who do not comply with the laws.
“The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development is currently reviewing internal processes and procedures in the management of externalization of labour. This is in an effort to improve overall workflow efficiency in the External Employment Management Information System (EEMIS).”
The Ministry has also indefinitely suspended licensing new Labour export companies.
“On that note, the Ministry has temporarily suspended the licensing of new External Labour Recruitment Companies until further notice.”
