Squid Game becomes officially become Netflix’s most watched debut

South Korean Squid Game has toppled Bridgerton from the first spot being the leading film on Netflix to get more views in the first 28 days.

Squid Game which premiered in late September has so far garnered 111 Million views surpassing Bridgerton which managed to get 80M views in its first 28 days.

The nine episode series is a survival drama where a group of society misfits play childhood games to win a bounty amount of Korean Won 45Bn (UGX 137Bn, $28M) not knowing that failure to win would get you killed.

Netflix’s vice president for content in Korea, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand Minyoung Kim says the show’s success is “beyond our wildest dreams”.
