While buying or selling Shares on Uganda Securities Exchange, you need a stock broker who acts as a dealer between the buyer and seller.

With the increased need to invest in stocks with the listing of more companies on Uganda stock Exchange like MTN Uganda, CIPLA, and Airtel Uganda going also to float stock on Uganda Securities Exchange within a year, Ugandans need to be keen about whom they deal with and not fall a prey of tens of fake brokers.

  1. How can some one open up an SCD account? Can I use the broker or dealer name while opening an SCD account before noticing the broker?

      Hello Gertrude, yes you can use the dealer’s name as your Stock Broker howewever you will Need to contact them after your SCD account is opened to give them the KYC information and Bank Details. For details, read: How to Open an SCD account Using MTN Mobile Money

          Yes you can change the stock broker. Contact the new stock broker that you want to change to, they will give you procedures and guidelines to follow to change a stock broker.

  2. Who is the best stock broker in uganda now?

I have an SCD account which I opened in Crested Capital for buying shares in MTN Uganda, is that the only SCD I need to for example buy Stanbic bank Shares or I need to open another one, even with the same broker as Crested Capital as am OK with them and can I do everything online as am far from Kampala?

      An SCD account (Securities Central Depository) is opened once and can be used to buy shares, invest in other securities like bonds and treasurey bills. You do not need to another SCD account in order to buy shares in any other listed public company.
      You need to establish talk to your stock brokers Crested Capital and they will advise you on how you can trade in stocks when you are far from Kampala. Contact them on +256 758 230 900.

      While opening an SCD account, you selected your preferred stock broker. Contact them and they will assist you in buying securities and shares in public listed companies

      If you want to buy or sell shares in any public company, contact your stock broker, they will help you through it
