The Third Batch of COVID-19 Vaccines Arrives in Uganda

The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Health has received the third consignment of CoronaVirus Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines at Entebbe Airport last night.

A total of 175,200 additional doses arrived at Entebbe yesterday aboard the KLM Airlines and were received by the Ministry witnessed by its Public Relations Manager Ainebyona Emmanuel and Jimmy Ameny the GAVI-MOH Procurement and Supply chain specialist.

The jabs are a donation to people of Uganda from the Government of France through the COVAX initiative.

Uganda received the first batch of 864,000 AstraZeneca vaccines through the COVAX Facility followed by a second consignment of 100,000 vaccines that came as a donation from the Government of India on March 08th this year bringing the total to 964000.

With 175200 vaccines added, doses that have been administered in Uganda and those that are yet to be administered now gross to 1139200.

A total of 806129 people have so far been vaccinated with at least a one dose.

The new vaccines will be dispatched to vaccination centers countrywide to resume the mass vaccination programme as the country prepares to ease after 42 days of partial lock down.
