Gen Muhoozi asks Museveni to forgive and rehabilitate Gen Kayihura to his former glory

Commander of Land Forces Lt Muhoozi Kainerugaba says that former Inspector General of Police has been punished enough and should be reinstated to his former glory.
In a message to his father the President of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Muhoozi said that his generation grew up taking Kale Kayihura as an example and it hurts to see him now abandoned.
Gen K Kayihura was one of those special cadres in the early 1990s who inspired us to serve our nation. Others were late Generals Mayombo and Kazini. If he made mistakes, let us use revolutionary methods of work to rectify them. I request the CIC to forgive and rehabilitate him.” Muhoozi said.
Gen. Kayihura is the longest reigning Inspector General of Police since Uganda became independent in 1962 having run the office from 2005 till 2018 when he was replaced by his deputy IGP Martin Okoth Ochola after 13 years.
The five star general was later arrested and charged with “failure to protect war materials and aiding and abetting kidnapping” before being released on bail after 76 days in military prison.
He has since been out of public service and Gen Muhoozi is calling for his reinstatement.
