A well known Rwandan rapper JAY POLLY has been reported dead today Thursday early in the morning in Rwanda. Polly has been in custody on charges of drug saga and also violating COVID-19 regulations though discovered out that he was due to stand trial December.
Biography of Jay Polly.
Born on July 5, 1988 in Gikondo, Kigali, Rwanda, Tuyishime Joshua popularly known as Jay Polly is a Rwandan hip hop artist popular for his hard core Hip Hop.
Jay’s mother was a choir leader in a local church and is the one who inspired him into singing.
He started his music career as a teenager on the streets of Nyamirambo a neighborhood in Nyarugenge district Kigali, Kigali Province.
He entered the competition of Primus Guma Guma Superstar Season 4 (PGGS4) in 2014 where he proved his talent and was announced the winner. This attracted a considerate audience to him.
He is known for various singles and collaborations with Rwandan top starts including Knowles, Lil G and many others.
Imprisonment of Polly
In April, the Late Polly hosted an illegal party at his house that was against Covid19 restrictions in Rwanda and he was arrested to jail alongside 11 others from his home in the suburbs of Kigali.though In Rwanda, house parties are banning as part of the measures to curb the spread of the deadly COVID-19.
According to police, he was found in possession and use of marijuana drugs, a charge he denied.
Attempts to get him bail had all gone futile and he was awaiting trial in December this year.
Early last year, another Rwandan artist Kizito Mihingo, a gospel artist was arrested and died in prison mysteriously with police claiming that he committed suicide.
Cause of Death of Jay Polly
According to the hospital director Pacal Nkubito, Polly was brought to the hospital in a bad condition 3:00 local time (4:00 Ugandan time) and the doctors tried to respond to his life but he did shortly thereafter at the age of 33.
According to Rwanda authorities, Polly died after consuming alcohol concoctions prepared by two inmates.
Polly and two of the inmates consumed the mixture of the spirit that they use to shave with sugar and water.
The Rwanda Correctional Service says Polly developed health problems on Wednesday evening and was rushed to the hospital where he died from in the next morning.
Rwanda Investigation Bureau and Rwanda Forensic Laboratory will carry out a postmortem to establish the real cause of death.
His brother said that they were informed by the Rwandan Correctional Service about the death of Polly in prison.
Various celebrities and music fans all over East Africa have posted condolence messages mourning for the fallen hero.
