Local comedian and 88.2 Sanyu FM radio presenter Patrick ‘Salvado’ Idringi has come out to show his immense appreciation and respect for Ugandan comedey legend Amooti Omubalanguzi.
Amooti is widely regarded as the Goat of Ugandan comedy by many.
It’s such a great gesture to see another comedy great appreciating greatness.
Amooti no doubt together with his partner the late Paddy Bitama revolutionized Ugandan comedy in the early 2000’s through their group Amarula family.
The two were the most popular figures in comedy but Bitama later quit acting and joined active politics before untimely passing away.
Amooti remained around running the group before he split with some of his group mates to form New Amarula productions.
Mr Bean would be the best description of Amooti. He’s literally the Ugandan Mr Bean.
The funny man is the person you will look at and simply laugh before he even does anything.
Salvado said that no matter how good he will ever get, Amooti will always be the Comedy king in Uganda.
“No matter how good I get in this comedy game or how funny people think I’m, Amooti Omubalanguzi will always be the King of Comedy in Uganda.” Salvado posted on his Facebook page.
It’s no wonder that most comedians either idolize him or respect him for his great contribution to Ugandan comedy.
