Source management singer Spice Diana has come out to re-echo the call that has been made by different Ugandan artistes of embracing Ugandan music.
According to the Body singer, Ugandans are fond of foreign artists yet they belittle their own.
Her comments came after AFRIMMA award winner Eddy Kenzo has been receiving criticism from some sections of Ugandans.
These feel that the Weekend singer didn’t deserve the award at the expense of the likes of Diamond Platinumz or Sauti Sol.
Spice Diana however feels that a win for any Ugandan artist is a win for all Ugandans.
She also expressed her elation on being nominated in the AFRIMMA awards for the first time in her career.
“I was humbled to be nominated, it was my first nomination in the AFRIMMA awards. Whether I won or not,it was an amazing experience to be on that stage.
We should also stop belittling our artistes who have won the awards. I was humbled to receive Eddy Kenzo’s award. When one of us wins, it’s a win for every Ugandan,” the singer said.
Kenzo won the East African best male Singer in a tight category that had the likes of Diamond Platinumz, Sauti Sol, Rayvanny, Harmonize, Rwanda’s Meddy, Darassa among others.
