How Did You Get A Phone Into Kitalya Prison? Social Media Users Question Nubian Li

A few days ago Nubian Li and other NUP comrades got released from Kitalya Government Prison  where they had been jailed for close to 7 months.

These had been arrested on NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s campaign trail in Kalangala district.

However, since his release, the singer has gone ahead to release footage recorded in the prison.

He went ahead to say that those who doubted the authenticity of the images he was releasing, he still had more.

He allegedly recorded everything himself which left social media users wondering how he had gotten a smart phone into the coolers.

“Yes for those who still doubted the images I took in Kitalya Mini-Max prison, I still have more! #processbyprocess. It’s so absurd that many innocent Ugandans are still incarcerated for their political views.” The singer posted on his Twitter account.

Social media users started wondering how this was possible.

“The first items to be released would be torture you claimed to have gone through, but how come you people came out of kitalya looking healthier than u went in?” One follower said

“In a very oppressive system you had the privilege to have a phone inside prison( not even in America u can have such privileges) and appointed yourself the judge to rule all criminals innocent? Thanks for the good PR the prison looks good contrary to what your people were saying.” Another said.

“So you had a phone in prison??amazing.” A follower questioned

“”So in Kitalya you had a phone.. Sorry a smart phone, you even had the privilege to charge, on some occasions some officers share some of these videos or pics with you.

My que.. Which “officers” mistreated you?

Its only in Kitalya where an inmate owns a phone.” Another user wondered.

This attracted the attention of NBS TV news anchor Samson Kasumba.

Kasumba said that all he was awaiting was the torture footage.

There have always been numerous reports of how prisoners especially political ones are grossly tortured behind the walls.

“I am waiting for the video recordings of the torture that went on there now that we know recording devices existed and were used inside the Kitalya Prison facility. Let me wait for those. Those who torture MUST be exposed and prosecuted. I do not believe in torture one bit.” Kasumba tweeted.

When users started criticising Kasumba saying there was no way Nubian Li could release the torture footage, since he wasn’t the one who recorded it, Kasumba hit back.

He quoted Nubian’s tweet which allegedly meant that the singer  recorded everything himself.
