Jesus once said that a prophet is not appreciated in his home town but rather abroad and it seems the case with Big Talent boss Eddy Kenzo.
Some Ugandans have always felt that the Weekend singer is not that big and talented in the way he’s hyped.
Some even feel that the international awards he wins beating some big names are not deserved like Dembe FM Talk and Talk show co-host Eddie Sendi.
Commenting about Kenzo’s recent Afrimma Award win for the best male singer in East Africa, Sendi said that Kenzo didn’t deserve it as he wasn’t better than the likes of Diamond Platinumz or Sauti Sol.
Sendi feels Kenzo was rather nominated because the other singgers are too big to acknowledge the awards unlike Kenzo.
“Eddy Kenzo doesn’t have good music compared to Diamond Platnumz & Sautis. The organizers of AFRIMA Awards just find it difficult to reward those big stars who will not recognize or value their accolades. None of those big artists would feel honored, and start posting about the award with excitement like Eddy Kenzo,” Sendi said.
Well all in all if it’s about pushing Ugandan music beyond barriers, then such comments whether true or not will have to be rested a bit.
Singer Bebe Cool also a few weeks ago said that Kenzo’s Sitya loss wasn’t the biggest song in 2014 yet it won the much coveted BET award.
The Gagamel boss however said that it shows the power fans can have in promoting Ugandan music.
